A Window Into the Workshop — Built for the Joy of Making.
Let's Talk Wood!Ventana Woodworking is not a business; it is the name I gave to my retirement workshop, carved out of a corner in my home garage in Smithtown, NY. This site serves as a digital logbook for a journey into traditional American craftsmanship—specifically the honest utility and clean lines of Shaker furniture.
As a hybrid woodworker, I bridge the gap between the precision of power tools and the character of hand joinery. I build without the constraints of clients, focusing instead on the meditative process of the build and the pursuit of my own technical limits.
The name "Ventana" is a legacy from 1980. Originally chosen for a computer enterprise, the name was found by chance: a finger landing on the word "window" in a Bible. Rejecting the ubiquitous "Windows" of the tech era, I chose the Spanish translation to honor my Castilian heritage. Today, that window looks out from the woodshop.
